In the Primary grades, students are exposed to learning about instrument families, reading basic rhythms, sight singing using Kodaly methodology, composers, and music and movement. In Third grade, students begin to learn how to read music and then start to play the recorder.  In the Intermediate grades, students learn the history and culture of music from the middle ages through the present day.  Students are also given the opportunity to write their own compositions and present them to their classmates. Basic piano is taught for students to expand on their musical talents and interest in taking lessons in the future.  In the Junior high grades, students present individual and group projects on a variety of musical genres and artists of interest. Students also receive a refresher in music theory with note recognition and rhythms.
